Qazigund (Kulgam) Oct 31: A wave of enthusiasm and patriotism swept through Qazigund as hundreds of participants took part in the ‘Run for Unity’, a vibrant event held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the Iron Man of India.
The event was jointly flagged off on the National Highway (NHW) from Chaimulla to Navayug Tunnel by Shri Javid Iqbal Mattoo, IPS, DIG South Kashmir Range; Brigadier Sudhir Kumar Singh, VSM, Commander 2 Sector RR; Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary, IPS, SSP Kulgam; and former Indian cricketer Shri Parvez Rasool Dar.
The run witnessed overwhelming participation from youth, women, school children, and members of civil society, all radiating energy and unity. The event also featured colorful cultural performances that showcased the themes of peace, brotherhood, and national integration.
Speaking to the reporters on the sideline of the event, DIG said, “The Run for Unity symbolizes the collective resolve of the people of Kulgam to uphold the ideals of peace, harmony, and brotherhood as envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.”
Mattoo lauded the efforts of Kulgam Police in organizing the event.
The program concluded with a solemn pledge to preserve and strengthen the unity and integrity of the nation, echoing the timeless message of oneness and collective progress.
