Kulgam, Dec 06: Continuing its drive against persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Kulgam police arrested one person and seized three vehicles.
The Police party led by SHO police station Qazigund during patrolling along the banks of river Sandran found some vehicles engaged in illegal mining, on noticing police party, two tipper drivers managed to flee from the spot left their vehicles behind. However one person (Driver of JCB) whose identity has been ascertained as; Asif Ahmad Shah S/O Bashir Ahmad Shah R/O Sangran was arrested. During the incidents, three vehicles including; (02 Tippers and 01 JCB) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals were seized.
In this regard, cases with FIR No. 267 & 268/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Qazigundand investigation has been taken up in both cases.
People are requested not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
