Police take action against sale of rotten meat, expired eatables across Kulgam district, 5 FIRs registered

Kulgam, Sep 14: In a major development aimed at safeguarding public health, Kulgam Police have registered Five FIRs against stockiest and food sale points for storage and sale of rotten mutton items and other eatables across Kulgam district.

An official told that on the directions of SSP Kulgam, Shri Sahil Sarangal (IPS), the Kulgam Police in coordination with the Civil Administration conducted a joint operation at various places including Qazigund, Mirbazar Devsar, Kulgam, DH Pora Manzgam, Yaripora, Frisal, Qaimoh to check the quality of food, meat being sold in the market.

“During the inspection, instances of rotten meat being sold to the public were identified. Acting promptly, the authorities seized and destroyed the unfit meat on the spot to prevent any health hazards”, he said.

In this regard, Five FIRs have been registered — Two at P/S Qazigund, one at P/S Devsar, one at Police Station D.H Pora and another at Police Station Manzgam.

The Kulgam Police reiterates its commitment to public health and safety, and strict action will continue against those found endangering the well-being of citizens.
