In a month, 26 vehicles seized in illegal mining crackdown in Anantnag’s Dialgam: Police

Locals hailed the efforts DO Dialgam for protecting the environment and natural resources in the area

Dialgam (Anantnag) Oct 9: In a significant move against illegal mining activities, Police in Anantnag on Thursday said that a major crackdown on illegal mining has been carried out under since past one month resulting in the seizure of dozens of vehicles and machinery falling under Police Post Dialgam in Anantnag district.

The operation were conducted by Incharge Police Post Dialgam Ubaid Qureshi under the close supervision of DySP Hq, SHO Anantnag and overall direction of SSP Anantnag. The effort targeted environmental violations and unauthorized mineral extraction activities.

The crackdown led to the confiscation of 26 vehicles including one JCB machine, 12 Tractors, 11 tippers, 2 loaded trolleys and 200Mts of dumped sand was also seized at many places.

The operations against illegal extraction and transportation are being conducted regularly, with strict actions taken against offenders to deter them from engaging in illegal activities”, police said.

“No leniency will be provided to those trying to loot natural resources and causing irreparable damage to the ecology”, he added.

Meanwhile, Local residents hailed the efforts of Anantnag police led Incharge PP Dialgam for protecting the environment and natural resources in the area.
