Kulgam, May 1: Several villages in south kashmiri’s Kashmir’s Kulgam district have been hit by water shortage due to recent flashflood following continuos rainfall and the residents slam administration for failing to restore essential service.
The worst hit areas are Mondhole, Pajan, Chandian and Churat, are yet to receive water supply. The locals complain of water shortage from last couple of days
“We have been yearning for drinking water since last three days. I request the government to get the broken pipes mend and provide us with drinking water’, a local said.
“Despite taking up the issue with authorities, the water scarcity problem still persists”, he said.
When Contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Jal Shakti (PHE) Qazigund, Mohd Rafiq, said that water scarcity hits due to the dejointing of pipes at some places following the continuos rainfall, adding that men and machinary are on job to restore the water supply at earliest, “We would dispatch the water tankers in the area till problem will be sorted out”, he said
