Kulgam, June 27: A road which according to locals was macadamised after a decades last year was damaged at several spots after Jal Shakti department dug it to lay a water pipe line.
Locals from parry pora Lammer area told that a road from Bonigam to Brinel lammer in Kulgam district was macadamised by PMGSY department after almost decades.
But one year later, the Jal shakti department started digging the road to lay a pipeline which has caused damage to the road and drainage to several spots.
They said that the Jal Shakti department should have laid the pipeline earlier.
AEE PMGSY when contacted said that Jal Shakti department hasn’t sought any permission from them and he has already stopped their work twice so far.
“We have macdamised this road just one year before and they have damages it and if they would have asked for permission, NOC, we would have rectified it ourselves”, he said.
“it was mistakenly reported that FIR will be lodged aganist Jal shakti however, the matter has been taken up with district administration for necessary action”, he added.
On the other hand, AEE Jal Shakti Mohd Rafiq when contacted said that they have sought permission for many schemes together at high level as almost some lines under JJM are along macdamised roads of PMGSY and R&B so collective permission has been sought at higher level not at individual capacity.
“If there will be damage anywhere, we will rectify it ourselves and we are hopeful that permission for the entire pipeline to be laid is expected to come soon”, he said
“Road is also for us and we won’t unnecessarily digging as there is no corridor available and in case of leakage. We are facing more problems when it is close to the road and locals are not allowed to left the pipeline go through their land”, he said, adding that we are trying our best that the road shouldn’t get damaged and if anywhere it would have happened. We are going to rectify it”,
