
Frisal (Kulgam) Oct 16: Kulgam Police on Thursday said that it has seized large quantities of banned narcotic substances in Kulgam and arrested one individual in connection with drug trafficking.
A police official told that “Based on credible information received from reliable sources, about the storage of narcotics in the house of Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Mohd Ismail Malik, a resident of Tubji Frisal area of Yaripora.
“Acting swiftly a police party from Police Post Frisal led by Incharge Rayees Ahmad under the supervision of SHO Yaripora and overall supervision of SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), conducted search at the accused’s residence in the presence of Executive Magistrate”, he said.
“During the operation, police recovered 1kg 938 grams of charas powder, 4 kg 824 grams of charas leaves, 13 kg 31 grams of poppy straw and ₹22,000 cash”, the official said.
“The accused was arrested on the spot and further investigation has been set into motion to unearth possible links of the accused with drug trafficking networks,” he added.
According, a case under FIR No. 65/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at P/S Yaripora.
