Devsar, Jul 29: MGNREGA has turned Mafia at Panchayat halqa Mandhole of Devsar block in Kulgam district, while as concerned Junior Engineer (TA), VLW and GRS is watching as mute spectator with no action being taken against the contractors who are violating the govt norms.
People Expressed strong anger and dismay againt RDD block Devsar especially BDO whose staff is doing nothing on ground, they demanded an immediate and impartial probe by the Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Department, calling the revelations not only shocking but a direct betrayal of the trust reposed by the public and the central government.
“Some nomenclature also being changed by contractors one of the nomenclature NLO Arshid Itoo and others that costs 1.5 lac is also being changed to other location instead of its orginal site where work meant is”, said a local.
“Heavy machinery including JCB’s being used for works during night hours meant to be manual while as concerned officially watching as mute spectator,” locals alleged.
“MGNREGA job cards being misused by contractors involving fraudulent practices”, locals alleged.
“Contractors are hand-in-glove in this network, allowing large-scale misuse of public money with near-total impunity. “Machines are being used for work meant to be manual, while payments are manipulated and misappropriated. What we are witnessing is not just negligence, this is a well-orchestrated scam. The system has been hijacked and turned into a mafia,” locals stated.
People appealed Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Div Com Kmr, Director ACB, DC Kulgam and demanded strict action against the Culprits.
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad Kamgar when contacted on this matter he told that he would check the facts, and if any anyone found guilty strict action would be taken them.
