NC Committed to Holistic Development of Anantnag Despite UT Challenges: Imran Shah

"People Disillusioned with PDP Policies, Join NC in Large Numbers at Bon Tooru"

Anantnag, Jan 18: Reaffirming the National Conference’s (NC) unwavering commitment to the overall development of the Anantnag segment, senior NC leader and District vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, on Friday said that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the government is working tirelessly to launch and implement major public welfare projects despite the constraints imposed by Jammu and Kashmir’s Union Territory status.

Shah said it is commendable that a large number of commitments made by the NC government have already been fulfilled within the past one year, reflecting the party’s sincerity and resolve towards public service.

Taking a strong swipe at the PDP leadership, Shah accused it of having neglected Anantnag despite receiving a substantial mandate from the district in the past. He said that instead of addressing the genuine and pressing issues of the people, the PDP leadership is now attempting to divert public attention by indulging in discussions on international politics, an area in which they have neither responsibility nor relevance.

He further said the PDP must explain why the people who repeatedly voted them to power were deprived of basic amenities, and why public grievances were responded to with force and pellets instead of solutions. Shah asserted that the people have not forgotten the PDP’s tenure, which he alleged was marred by loot, nepotism, and large-scale corruption.
Shah in a function during a tour to Bon Tooru in which several key workers of PDP including Irshad Ah itoo, Gh Hasan Malik, Sajjad Ah Wani, Aijaz Ah Wani, Gh Qadir Sheikh, Habibullah wani, Bilal Ah Bhat and others joinned the party said that people feel sufocated due to wrong policies of PDP and being convinced by the pro people initiatives of NC are overwhelmingly joined in masses now.

Highlighting key local demands, Shah called for the immediate deployment of adequate medical staff to the newly constructed Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Bon Toor so that it becomes fully operational for patient care. He also urged the authorities to expedite the pending water supply scheme in the area.

Imran Shah demanded the development of roads and inner links in Bon Toor and adjoining localities, and called for the installation of solar lights well before the holy month of Ramadan, to provide relief to residents.

He reiterated that the National Conference will continue to raise people’s issues at every appropriate forum and remain steadfast in its mission to ensure equitable development and basic amenities for all sections of society.
