Anantnag, July 10:: Senior National Conference leader and Vice District President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, reaffirmed the party’s commitment towards the holistic welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that the current dispensation led by Jenab Omar Abdullah Sahib is focused on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities to enable the youth to live lives of dignity and self-reliance.

Addressing a public function at Prakashpora, Anzullah, Shah outlined several key welfare initiatives under the leadership of Omar Abdullah. These include:

Free travel for women on government-run buses

200 units of free electricity for AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) families

Increased marriage assistance of ₹75,000 for girls

A substantial ₹10,637 crore infrastructure package, including major projects such as the Sadhna Tunnel, Mughal Road Tunnel, and various flyovers

“These initiatives clearly vindicate the sincere efforts and vision of Omar Sahib to bring Jammu and Kashmir out of the shadows of distress and chaos,” Shah said.

Reaffirming the Chief Minister’s resolve to address youth-related issues, Shah emphasized the crucial role of youth in the region’s social and political transformation. He urged young people to aim high, work diligently, and strengthen the organisational structure of the National Conference to bring about meaningful change.

Imran Shah also called on the youth to gear up for the upcoming local body elections, stating that a strong mandate would empower the party to implement pro-people policies at the grassroots level. Shah encouraged party cadres to highlight public grievances and ensure their timely redressal.

Taking a jibe at the previous regimes, Shah accused them of neglecting youth-centric policies and pursuing personal and familial interests. In contrast, he stated that under Omar Abdullah’s leadership, the present administration is ensuring equitable representation for all regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting local development needs, Shah painted to pressing issues in Prakashpora, such as:

Widening of the Anzvola–Anchidoora road via Prakashpora، Installation of street lights, Construction of a drainage system near the local masjid.

Imran Shah urged the Rural Development Department to expedite the resolution of these issues.

On this occasion, several core political workers from the PDP joined the National Conference, including Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Jahangir Ahmad Bhat, Nazir Ahmad Najar, Gh M Malik, and others, marking a significant boost to the party’s cadre in the region.
