NEP-2020 opens more avenues for innovation in universities: Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, Feb 15: Education Minister, Sakina Itoo on Saturday said that the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP-2020) has opened more avenues for innovation in the universities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the gathering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Itoo as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that ‘Today, we did not come only to celebrate the convocation of the university but also the remarkable development of the institute which has itself established as a beacon of excellence in India.”

She said that under the leadership of former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, SMDU has grown naturally since its inauguration with a motive to revive the higher education sectors that have been severely affected due to turmoil in the past.

“The establishment of this university and others like IUST, BGSU have ensured the higher education opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and in addition a culture of innovation and research among the qualified youth,” she said.

She also commended the university for securing 31st position in the architecture in 2024 NIRF ranking.

The education minister further said that the implementation of NEP-2020 has opened more avenues for innovation in the universities—(KNO)
