Qazigund (Kulgam), Jan 23: Gusty winds accompanied by snowfall led to widespread disruption of electricity supply across the Qazigund belt, plunging several areas into darkness since yesterday. Officials at KPDCL said that restoration work is underway and nearly 45 percent of the power supply has been restored so far in Qazigund.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Sub-Division Qazigund, Waseem Mustafa, said field teams are working tirelessly despite harsh weather conditions.
“Our men are on the job and around 45 percent of electricity has been restored in the Qazigund belt,” he said.
He informed that power supply has already been restored in parts of Mirbazar and Vessu, while a major fault caused by a 33 KV cable puncture on the Qazigund side is still being addressed. “Men and machinery are on the spot to rectify the damage. Once the 33 KV line is restored, electricity will be fully resumed across Qazigund,” he added.
The AEE expressed hope that if weather conditions remain favourable, complete restoration of power supply is likely by evening.
