Kulgam, Jan 23: Amid heavy snowfall in the district, snow clearance operations are underway at full pace in Kulgam, with authorities deploying men and machinery on a war footing to restore road connectivity.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) Kulgam, Khurshid Abdullah, said that 25 snow clearance machines have been pressed into service to expedite the process.
He informed that efforts are focused on all major arterial roads linking Kulgam with neighbouring districts, along with link roads and inner village routes
“Nearly 70 percent of the roads across the district have been cleared so far, however, continuous snowfall is posing challenges to the operations,” Abdullah said.
“Complete snow clearance is expected by evening if weather conditions remain favourable” he added.
“I am personally monitoring the situation on ground and ensuring clearance of snow from all roads in the district at earliest,” Abdullah told.
