Kulgam, Jan 30: In a significant move to combat the menace of drug trafficking and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kulgam Police on Tuesday attached the immovable property of a drug peddler in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A Police official identified the accused drug peddler as Bashir Ahmad Khanday son of Mohd Sultan Khanday of Nipora, Mirbazar.
According to the official, the accused had acquired the property through illegal trade of drugs.
The official said that the action was initiated in connection with FIR 148/2022, u,s 8/15 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Qazigund.
Pertinent to mention here that this marks the fourth property seized by Kulgam police this month so far of drug dealers in the district.
“This action reaffirms the commitment of Kulgam Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Kulgam district,” Police said.
