Water scarcity hits due to the water depletion on tubewell in the village; had taken up the matter with higher ups the issue will be sorted out soon: AEE Jal Shakti

Kulgam, Jan 29: The residents of Banimullah area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to provide their regular drinking water supply in their locality for the last 14 months.
Locals said that the area has been without water for the last 14 months while the authorities, despite repeated pleas to restore the water supply, have failed to take any concrete steps in this regard.
We are being deprived of water facilities and despite repeated requests, the concerned department nor the administration is bothered to sort out our hardships,” said a resident.
A senior citizen of the area said the area is facing an acute shortage of drinking water supply and the officials of the concerned Jal Shakti Department are paying a deaf ear to the inconvenience faced by the locals.
Locals said that several representations were made to the Jal Shakti department but they are paying no heed to the pleas.
The residents of the area have urged the LG Shri. Manoj Sinha and DC Kulgam to take immediate steps.
When Contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Jal Shakti department Kulgam, Javid Ahmad Mir acknowledged that “water scarcity hits due to the water depletion on tube well in the village, adding that they had taken up the matter with higher ups the issue will be sorted out soon”,
