Kulgam, Feb 1: Following the snowfall of the season, many areas here in South Kashmiri’s Kulgam district remain cut off as roads have not been cleared of snow, while power supply has not been restored yet for dozens of villages.
The upper reaches of Kulgam district received snowfall as high as 1 feet and low lying areas around 7 Inches.
Such is the situation at a time when the meteorological department has forecast more snowfall in the region.
Many complaints were received from various areas of Kulgam district where villages remained cut off.
“Our power supply is also yet to be restored and given the fact that there is no power, we are also facing a shortage of drinking water now. No one from the administration has bothered to look this way. We are on our own,” the residents said.
Locals Urges district administration to look into the matter and clear the roads of a villages as soon as possible.
When Contacted AEE MED Kulgam, Khurshid Abdullah said that “all the main roads in the district had been made accessible. We are working hard to make all the link roads motorable soon”
On the other hand, AEE PDD Qazigund Mohd Yousuf Mir said that “efforts are on to restore the electricity as soon as possible”,
