Devsar (Kulgam), Apr 05: Some families in various areas of Devsar in Kulgam district are allegedly holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards despite not being eligible for the scheme.
The AAY cards are meant for the poorest of the poor, but there are claims that some ineligible individuals are misusing the benefits.
Those who truly deserve the support are being neglected, while those who are ineligible continue to benefit — especially now, amid the announcement of free ration for AAY cardholders.
Locals have urged the concerned Tehsil Supply Officers (TSO’s) and other concerned authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that only deserving families receive the support.
Meanwhile, an official from FCS&CA told that committee has been constituted to weed out ineligible beneficiaries and include eligible ones as per criteria under NFSA.
