Bung worth 350 kanals of land destroyed across Kulgam district

Kulgam, Oct 7: Kulgam police along with assistance of concerned departments destroyed cannabis (bung) cultivated over 350 kanals of land, official sources said on Tuesday.

A senior police officer said under the supervision of SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal Kulgam police along with concerned departments launched a massive operation against bung and poppy cultivation across Kulgam district including Behibagh, Qazigund, Devsar, Mirbazar, Yaripora, DH Pora, Manzgam, Kulgam, Qaimoh.

“During the raids, bung worth over 350 kanals of land was destroyed on the spot”, he said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam Sahil Sarangal appreciated the joint efforts of all participating teams, reaffirmed that Kulgam Police is fully committed to ensuring a drug-free society. He said, “Our consistent focus is to eliminate the roots of the drug menace. The destruction of illicit cultivation is a vital step in cutting the supply chain and safeguarding our youth from the dangers of substance abuse.

“Police remains steadfast in its commitment to building a drug-free society and urges the general public to remain vigilant. Citizens are encouraged to report any instances of illegal cultivation or drug-related activities to the nearest police station or through established helplines”. he said.

General public of these areas have appreciated the action of police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.
