Have sent a project plan to higher ups; Once project is approved, work will be started on the road, says AEE R&B
Kulgam, Dec 8: Bonigam-Baihama Link road of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, has suffered a significant collapse, posing a grave threat to the safety of commuters.
A delegation of commuters told that the portion of retaining wall of Bonigam-Baihama link road collapsed suddenly on October 12 this year but since then authorities are not fixing it. Thus leaves commuters to suffer, adding that despite the dangerous condition of the road, we (commuters) and locals continue to use it as there is no alternative road, raising the possibility of a major accident.
“It has been months now that the road is in dilapidated condition. Commuters face a lot of hardships as the road is full of danger that end up hindering smooth traffic movement,” said Bilal Ahmad, a commuter.
The commuters said that despite the road catering to a huge traffic influx, authorities are not fixing it.
“The residents now live in constant fear. We urge the authorities to take immediate action before any untoward incident occurs,” the locals said.
When Contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of R&B Division Devsar, Rayees Ahmad said that we have sent a project plan to higher ups for repairing of the road which is yet to be approved.
“Once project is approved, work will be started on the road,” he said.
