Kulgam, Aug 31: With an aim to enhance public participation in the upcoming General Elections to Legislative Assembly, 2024, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K, P.K.Pole presided mega Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program at Altaf Memorial Govt Degree College Kilam on Saturday.
The event featured a multitude of activities aimed at fostering voter awareness, including folk music, and sports activities. These initiatives were designed to create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere to highlight the importance of voting.
District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, and others officers besides the public attended the programme.
Speaking during the event, Pole said “the primary objective behind organizing such events is to enhance voter awareness and boost the public participation in the electoral process in the elections.
He further emphasized the importance of every citizen’s active involvement in the democratic process, underlining that a well-informed electorate is fundamental to ensuring a vibrant and representative democracy.
Talking reporters on the sideline of the function, he said that preparations are in full swing for the general elections to the legislative assembly in J&K to ensure maximum participation of voters.
“Election is for everyone, irrespective of backgrounds, and public participation in the electoral process in the elections is important for everyone”, pole said.
