Kulgam, March 25: The District Administration Kulgam on Wednesday issued a public advisory assuring residents that there is no shortage of fuel across the district and that adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available at all filling stations.
According to the official press note, a total of 21 fuel stations are currently operational in the district, maintaining sufficient reserves to meet daily demand.
Providing a detailed breakdown, the administration stated that the total available petrol stock stands at 2,02,034 litres, with an average daily consumption of around 35,103 litres. The opening stock of 1,67,240 litres is sufficient to cater to the district’s needs for approximately 4.76 days.
Similarly, diesel stock across the district has been reported at 2,75,915 litres, with an average daily consumption of 36,211 litres. The available opening stock of 2,37,124 litres is adequate for nearly 6.54 days.
The administration emphasized that the fuel supply chain remains stable and is being closely monitored to ensure uninterrupted availability.
Urging the public to remain calm, officials strongly advised against panic buying, stating that such actions can create unnecessary pressure on supply systems and lead to inconvenience for other consumers.
The advisory also warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in hoarding, black marketing, or creating artificial scarcity of fuel.
“The situation is under close watch, and adequate supplies are being maintained to meet regular demand,” the administration said, reiterating that the advisory has been issued in public interest.
