Anantnag, June 24: Senior NC leader and Vice District President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah has urged the district administration to address the genuine concerns of peasants from Kawrigam, Tooru, Teilwani, and Brah Renipora regarding the inadequate irrigation supply. He stressed the need to make the Martand Canal and Brah Irrigation Canal fully functional by undertaking desiltation and necessary repairs, to ensure proper water supply for agricultural purposes.
Imran Shah highlighted that despite regularly paying annual revenue for irrigation water, the farmers of these areas receive only a meagre supply, which hampers agricultural productivity. He called upon the authorities to treat this as a priority issue.
Imran Shah demanded that adequate medical facilities be made available at the defunct health centre in Kawrigam, noting that locals have been deprived of healthcare services for a long time and are forced to travel nearly 20 kilometers to Anantnag for medical assistance.
During his visit to the area, Shah assured the public that he would bring their genuine grievances to the notice of the government for timely and appropriate redressal.
He also demanded the extension of drinking water supply from the existing Kawrigam water scheme to a locality currently left out, pointing out that water meant for the locality has instead been diverted to other villages. Shah were accompanied by Block President Ab salam Dar and block secretary Mushtaq Ah.
