Jammu, Oct: The auspicious occasion of Karva Chouth turned into a black day for the Abrol family of Jammu, who had lost their son—Shashi Bhushan Abrol in the Gagangir terror attack.

Jammu Architect Shashi Abrol, along with six other people were killed in a terrorist attack in Ganderbal, Kashmir.

As per family sources, Sashi spoke to his wife Ruchi Abrol at 6:00 pm and greeted her on ‘Karva Chauth’, the fast she keeps the entire day for his longevity.

Sashi had planned to come home on Diwali, which falls later this month but fate had other plans and he became the victim of a terrorist attack that happened shortly after the conversation.

As per family members, his wife had kept fast for Karva Chauth and after the moon was sighted, she kept on video calling him, but he did not take the call.

At the same time, his 5-6 year old daughter cried “the terrorists are very dirty, they killed my father.”

His wife said that she talked to him at 6 o’clock yesterday on a video call. She had told her husband that she would call him again when the moon appears. “Then I kept calling the whole night, but he did not pick up the call. The terrorists destroyed everyone’s house.”

Manish Abrol, Shashi’s elder brother, has opened up about the devastating impact of the incident, sharing heart-wrenching details of their last conversation and the family’s struggle to cope.

“We are still in shock,” Manish said, his voice trembling with emotion. “I can’t believe that my brother is no more. He was the life of our family.” He recalled the last time he spoke to Shashi, just a few days before the attack.

“He sounded normal, happy. There was no hint of any fear or worry in his voice,” he said.

The family’s ordeal began when Shashi failed to respond to their calls after 6 pm on the day of the attack.

A sense of dread washed over them as hours turned into days, and they awaited news of his whereabouts. Their worst fears were confirmed when they received the tragic news of his demise.

“It’s like a nightmare,” Manish said. “I can’t imagine how his wife and his two young children will cope with this loss. He was the breadwinner of the family, and now they are left to fend for themselves.”

The pain of losing a loved one to violence is unbearable, and the Abrol family is not alone in their suffering.

Many other families have been devastated by the terror tragedy. Six other innocent people also lost their lives in this terror attack.

During this, his father demanded from the government that Shashi Bhushan’s wife should get a government job because now there is no one to earn in the house.

Later, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the family of Shashi Abrol.

The Lt Governor offered his condolences and assured the family members that the terrorists responsible for the Martyrdom of Shashi Abrol will be neutralized soon.

He also assured the family of all assistance and support from the administration. The entire nation stands in solidarity with the family of the martyr civilian in this hour of grief. Government will take care of the welfare, job and education of the next of kin, he said
