
Kulgam, March 24: In a significant step towards youth engagement and community outreach, Kulgam Police on Tuesday organised a T-20 Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26 at the Mini Sports Stadium, Kulgam.
The tournament witnessed participation from twelve teams representing different areas, reflecting growing interest among local youth in sports and constructive activities.
The inaugural match was played between LCC Kulgam and Chancer CC, drawing a large number of spectators and creating a vibrant sporting atmosphere.
Chancer CC emerged victorious in the opening clash, defeating LCC Kulgam by six wickets in a well-contested match that showcased talent, discipline, and team spirit.
A senior police officer said the initiative aims to provide a positive platform for youth, encouraging them to channel their energy into sports while promoting values of teamwork and fair play. The event also serves to strengthen police-public relations and build trust within the community.
Local residents appreciated the efforts of Kulgam Police, stating that such programmes not only nurture sporting talent but also help in steering youth away from negative influences.
Kulgam Police reiterated its commitment to continue organising similar youth-centric and community-oriented activities under the Civic Action Programme, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering unity, confidence, and social harmony.
