Will work hard to represent my country at Int’l level, says Dar Saawya
Kulgam, Dec 4: Sky is the limit in everything and Kashmiri girls are proving it by giving their best in various fields including sports. A teenage girl from Kulgam district has shinned in the National Pencak Silat Championship held in Bihar after bagging the gold medal.
Dar Saawya Ashiq (11) daughter of Ashiq Hussain Dar resident of Malipora, Akhran area of Mirbazar in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district who is a class 6th student of K.Y International School Harnag, Anantnag won a gold medal at the 11th National Pre-Teen, Pre-Junior, and Junior Championship held at Pataliputra Sports Stadium, Patna in Bihar, from November 23 to 26 featured over 1400 players from 34 States and Union Territories.
Reflecting on her success, Saawya credits her achievements to the unwavering support and motivation provided by her coach, Asif and her family.
“Sports infrastructure needs more improvement as the biggest challenge that they have also faced is lack of facilities like acadamies that almost every sports person faces. I guess that is something which can create a great impact on your journey,” she said when asked about sports infrastructure in J&K.
Beyond her athletic accomplishments, She extends a poignant message to all, emphasising the importance of sports, discouraging drug use, and advocating for limited mobile phone usage. She passionately promotes a healthier lifestyle through regular exercise, highlighting the holistic benefits for both physical and mental well-being.
“I have taken part at District Level Sports Championship and then state followed by national and bagged silver, bronze and gold medals at state and national level,” she said, adding that she would work hard to represent my country at international level.
She requested that in this era every parent must support their children sports field as if child will be talented, he/she can make future in sports field.
“We are very happy that our daughter has achieved the Gold in the championship. She was always inclined towards sports and today her hard work has fructified. If we guide our daughters in the right direction with proper support they are sure to make their parents proud,” said her parents.
