Kund (Kulgam) April 20: Residents of Kraloo area of Kund in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district on Sunday staged a protest against the casual labours of PDD department for taking bribe from residents to reduce tariff on electricity bills in the area.

Locals told that that casuals labours of PDD department namely Arif Ahmad Bhat and Bashir Ahmad posted in the area are asking us money for reducing the electricity tariff in their electricity bills.

“We are paying our electricity bills on time in every month but despite that they (PDD employees) are taking money from us without any reason” he said.

“They have looted people in the area, but no one is taking any action, we don’t know who is our AEE or JE as they never visit our village, it seems they are also hand in glove with such employees”, he alleged.

Another local Ishfaq Ahmad Tantray, said that “We have approached to the AEE Qazigund multiple times but nothing has happened so far, We request higher authorities to look into the matter at earliest so that poor gets some sort of relief ”, he said.

“Last month I didn’t provide money to him (PDD employee) now I fail to understand the logic behind the sudden hike in the electricity bills it seems it’s the consequences of not paying bribe to PDD employees resulting the hike in electricity bills” he said.

He also resentment against such employee for entering into homes for searches without permission from competent authorities.

Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PDD Sub Division Qazigund, Waseem Mustafa when contacted told that he would investigate into the matter and those found guilty will face music.
