Upcoming Assembly Session Expected to Accelerate Development Momentum in J&K: Imran Shah

Anantnag, February 1:: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, on Sunday expressed confidence that the forthcoming Assembly session will provide a people-centric and budget-focused roadmap for the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public function at Hard Tooru, Shah said that Jammu and Kashmir is steadily moving on the path of holistic development under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He noted that the Chief Minister’s tireless efforts have resulted in visible progress across multiple developmental sectors.

Shah reaffirmed that the National Conference remains firmly committed to its promises and will ensure that all assurances made to the people during the elections are fulfilled in letter and spirit.

Taking a dig at the opposition, Shah said that Anantnag, despite reposing faith in them for more than two decades, was neglected and left in a state of disrepair. “Instead of restoring the town’s past glory, the previous dispensation indulged in nepotism, favouritism, and large-scale corruption, which severely hampered development,” he said.

He further stated that rather than building a secure future for the youth through transparent employment opportunities, recruitments and engagements were tainted by corruption and favouritism. “The so-called slogan of ‘self-rule’ was reduced to a tool for accommodating relatives and close associates. The National Conference, on the other hand, believes in merit and consistently promotes talent over favouritism,” Shah asserted.

On the occasion, several senior workers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) joined the National Conference including Mushtaq Ah Mohind, Ab Mateen Mohind, Gh Hasan Dar, Gh Nabi Rather, Gul Mohd Bhat, Bashir Ah Reshi, Fareed Ah Wani and others The event was attended by Senior Block President Achabal Ab Salam Dar, Block Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, along with other senior party functionaries and workers, who also addressed the gathering.

Welcoming the new entrants, Shah said that people are feeling suffocated by the failures and anti-people policies of the opposition. “After witnessing the National Conference’s performance in governance and its people-centric agenda, citizens are voluntarily joining the party in large numbers,” he added.

Shah also urged the government to address long-pending public demands of the area, including connecting the region to the Kawarigam Grid Station for uninterrupted power supply, expediting construction of the pending High School building, and ensuring the development and macadamisation of roads and inner link roads.
