Kulgam, Oct 2: A pall of gloom descended on Sopat village the native village of Army soldier who died due to an accidental fire in Kupwara district on Tuesday.
An official told that army man lost his life due to an accidental discharge from his service rifle during duty hours in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
He identified the the soldier as Showkat Hussain Kumar son of Abdul Majeed Kumar of Sopat, Devsar who was posted with the 175 Territorial Army (TA) unit at Panzgam in the Kralpora area of Kupwara district.
Hundreds of people participated in the last rites of Showkat.
Leaves behind his wife, two children’s, elderly parents, “Wailing over the death of Showkat, his wife said he had told her about his visit to home in the next few days but news of his death came first. “Just a day ago he called me and informed that he will soon visit home”, she said.
