Year 2023 witnessed 212 NDPS Act cases, 265 arrests; 10 booked under PIT NDPS PSA; 23 Vehicles, Drugs worth crores seized, says Police
Kulgam, Jan 1: The commendable performance of the Kulgam Police in the year 2023 in their relentless efforts to combat the drug menace in the region. The dedicated team of officers has displayed exceptional commitment and achieved significant milestones in enforcing the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
As per the official figure, In 2023, 212 cases under NDPS Act registered, 265 drug pedlars were arrested, 10 drug peddlers have been booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA, huge quantity of contraband substances worth crores recovered, 23 vehicles have also been seized.
Police data revealed that at the end of year 2023 contraband substances including; Poppy Straw 1156 Kgs, Cannabis 375.7 Kgs, Charas = 14.7Kgs Ghanja = 37.2 Kgs Brown Sugar = 224 gram Heroin = 291 gram, Codeine = 309 Bottles and, Alprazom Tablet = 330 Tablets,Spasmo Proxy Ven Plus = 320 Capsules, Clonazepam = 18 Strips and Tramadol 07 Strips recovered.
Police said that citizens of the district have showed utmost faith and satisfaction in the action of police against drugs, and they have expressed their total support to the police.
Kulgam Police remains steadfast in its commitment to confront drug smugglers and to seize both movable and immovable property used for illicit trafficking within the district.
“General People of the district are requested to come forward with the information of drug peddling in their areas or call on cell no 7051510660 (PCR Kulgam)/Dial 112 (identification will be kept confidential) in order to support police to eradicate menace of drugs from the society which is the real sign of strong Police Public relationship”, they said.
