
Kulgam, Dec 14: Under the vigilant leadership of District Mining Officer (DMO) Kulgam, Dar Khurshid Ahmed, a decisive enforcement drive was conducted today in District Kulgam, resulting in the seizure of ten vehicles, including dumpers, tippers, and two JCB machines, involved in illegal mining activities.
During the operation, the DMO realized an on-the-spot penalty exceeding ₹65,000, in addition to a total compounding penalty surpassing ₹1,50,000 imposed over the course of the day. This commendable achievement stands as a direct outcome of the unwavering encouragement, guidance, and administrative foresight of the Deputy Commissioner,l Kulgam Athar Aamir khan, IAS, whose support has significantly strengthened regulatory enforcement mechanisms in the district.
The District Mining Officer emphasized that such stringent and systematic actions form an integral part of the well-structured enforcement protocol adopted by the District Mining Department in close coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, Kulgam, designed explicitly as a deterrent framework to curb and eliminate illegal mining operations, particularly in ecologically vulnerable and sensitive zones of the district.
