Kulgam, Dec 14: Residents of Khan Mohallah Chekbadwani in Qazigund have expressed strong resentment against the Rural Development Department (RDD), Block Devsar, alleging complete failure in lifting garbage from the area for the past several months. Large heaps of waste can be seen accumulating along the Railway Road, posing serious health and environmental risks.
Locals said that despite repeated complaints and reminders, the concerned department has failed to take any concrete action. “We have time and again approached RDD Block Devsar to clear the garbage, but our repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” said Suhail, a local resident.
The residents further urged the authorities to install dustbins at the site to prevent indiscriminate dumping of waste and asserted that the local community is ready to cooperate fully to maintain cleanliness in the area.
“This problem affects the entire locality. If left unattended, it may lead to serious health hazards. We appeal to the concerned authorities to wake up from slumber and take immediate action,” the residents said, demanding swift intervention.
Meanwhile, an official from RDD block Devsar told that it will cleared tomorrow.
