78th Independence Day celebrated in Kulgam

DDC Chairperson unfurls tricolor at DPL Kulgam, took salute at march past; Scintillating colorful cultural programmes featuring patriotic and cultural themes were presented by cultural clubs, artists, and students; Good number of people witnessed the function; Officials and media persons were awarded in their respective fields; elaborate security arrangements was already in place for successful celebration of the event

Kulgam, August 15: The 78th Independence day was celebrated in District Kulgam with highest fervor and gaiety wherein tricolor was unfurled at each Police Station/Police establishment and other Govt offices. The main function in this behalf was held at District Police Lines Kulgam in which DDC Chairperson Kulgam Mohd Afzal Parray (chief guest) alongwith SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal unfurled the national flag, inspected the Parade and took salute at the march past.

Presented by the contingents of CRPF, J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, J&K Lady Police, J&K Home guard and students of various schools of the district Kulgam.

DM Kulgam Athar Amir Khan IAS, DDC members, Addl. SP NH Qazigund, Rajinder Singh, ADDC, ADC, ACR, DySP DAR Kulgam Shri. Rajinder Singh-JKPS, DySP HQR-JKPS and other senior officers/officials of civil administration, Police, CRPF were present.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief guest highlighted efforts and achievements made by the district under various priority areas including education, healthcare, languishing, back to village, district capex, agriculture and allied sectors, women and youth empowerment, MGNREGA, JJM, water and electricity supply to Anganwadi Centres and schools, rural development, macadamisation and road connectivity, social welfare, Nasha Mukt Bharat, industries, self employment and creation of durable and sustainable assets.

He also thanked the general public for their cordial support during the SANJY 2024. The importance of flagship programmes like Har Ghar Trianga was also highlighted on the occasion.

Besides, scintillating colorful cultural programmes featuring patriotic and cultural themes were presented by cultural clubs, artists, and students of various schools including bangra dance performed by the contingent of CRPF 18 Bn.

At the conclusion of the function, a prize distribution ceremony was held during which various functionaries were felicitated for showing exemplary and extraordinary services in their respective fields.

Good number of people witnessed the function. Keeping in view the present security scenario, elaborate security arrangements were made by the District Police Kulgam alongwith other security forces.
