Kulgam, July 1 : Failure of authorities to undertake repairs of the Chamgund—Kulgam main road is posing risk of accidents.
“There are elderly people, patients travelling via the road who face a lot of inconvenience due to the bad condition of the road,” said the locals from the area.
The commuters said that the road has been in shambles for a long time, making the commute difficult.
“We had requested the R&B Department several times to macadamize the road but only fake promises were made and nothing was done unfortunately,” a local said.
“We have been demanding macadamization for a long time now. Our vehicles are also damaged. If the road is not macadamized then we would not ply vehicles on the road,” said a driver from the area.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) R&B Devsar Er. Rayees Ahmad Zargar told that “We have already forwarded a proposal, fortunately which got approved under 2025-26 year proposal, adding the said scheme of road has been tendered out, we are expecting to macadamize the said road at earliest to provide better riding surface for commuters that was causing inconvenience to commuters”.
