Imran Amin Shah Slams PDP for Double Standards on Indus Water Treaty, Developmental Neglect in Anantnag

Anantnag , May 20:: Continuing his outreach programme in Anantnag, senior NC leader and Vice District President Anantnag Imran Amin Shah strongly criticized the PDP for its double standards on the Indus Water Treaty, accusing the party leadership of damaging Jammu & Kashmir’s economic interests through inconsistent stands on critical issues.

Speaking to party workers during his visit to Malakhnag, and Chenni Chowk areas, Shah said, “It has become a habit of PDP leadership to speak in different tones depending on their convenience. Mehbooba Mufti, during her tenure, vocally advocated for the abrogation of the Indus Water Treaty. Now, in an apparent attempt to please her close aides, she is making contradictory statements.”

Imran Shah added that Mehbooba must introspect on the failures and mistakes made during her tenure, which he alleged were largely aimed at benefiting her family and close associates. “The losses that Jammu & Kashmir is facing today are a direct result of the misgovernance during her time from 2015 to 2018,” he asserted.

Praising his party’s clear and consistent stand on the treaty, Shah said, “The harsh reality is that the Indus Water Treaty has not brought any real benefit to our state. Omar Abdullah’s stand has always been transparent and focused on the welfare of the people. The National Conference remains committed to working for the wellbeing of Jammu & Kashmir.”

Shah also criticized the PDP for what he called “utter neglect” of Anantnag town, especially in terms of development. “The PDP government unleashed favoritism and corruption, prioritizing the interests of their relatives over public welfare. Common people were left to suffer,” he said.

Imran Shah urged authorities to focus on the repair of inner link roads in Reshibazar, Mattan Chowk, and Malakhnag, and called for the proper maintenance of the public toilet block near Ranibagh Park.
