
Kulgam, Jan 11: Sky is the limit in everything and Kashmiri girls are proving it by giving their best in various fields including sports. A teenage girl from Kulgam district has shinned in the National Sqay championship held at Jaipur, Rajasthan after bagging the gold medal.
Aneeqa Ishtiyaq (11) daughter of Ishtiyaq Khaleel, a 5th class student, from Ashmuji area of south Kashmiri’s Kulgam district bagged a gold medal at the 24th National Sqay Championship held at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
“I have been interested in martial arts and since my childhood and started learning arts when I was just 9 year old,” she said, adding that my aim in life to become a doctor.
For the last 2 years I have started from Zone level and then district level followed by state, and national as well, she said.
Reflecting on her success, Aneeqa credits her achievements to the unwavering support and motivation provided by her coach, and her family.
“I am very happy that my daughter has achieved the Gold in Sqay championship. She was always inclined towards sports and today her hard work has fructified. If we guide our daughters in the right direction with proper support they are sure to make their parents proud,” said her father Ishtiyaq.
“Parents must support their children in following their field of interest whatever it may be and with hardwork and consistency, everything can be achieved”, he said.
