
Kulgam, July 7: Two long-drawn security operations in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district district has ended with the killing of a six terrorists including top hizbul Mujahideen Commander.
The operation had begun on Saturday afternoon after the army and police launched a joint operation in Modergam and Chinningam area of Kulgam district after intelligence inputs about the presence of Militants in these areas.
Sources said that two army personnel including an elite para commando were killed in the dual encounters and Top Hizb Commander was among the six terrorists killed in the dual gunfights in Kulgam district that ended after two days.
According to the information gathered by the official sources, all the 6 local militants joined in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Tawheed Ahmad Rather of Awdora, Kulgam joined in August 2022, Zahid Ahmad Dar of Dassand, Kulgam, joined in March 2022, Yawar Bashir Dar of Redwani, Kulgam, joined in May 2021, Shakeel Ahmad Wani of Khuri Batpora, Kulgam, joined in November 2023, Adil joined in March 2021, and Faisal joined in May 2024
Speaking about the operations, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police RR Swain said the neutralisation of such a big number of terrorists was a major achievement.
“Undoubtedly, this is a big milestone in the efforts towards strengthening the security environment. These successes are very meaningful both substantively as well as in terms of messaging,” he said
