Kulgam, Jan 20: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Kashmir Range, Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo, IPS, on Monday chaired a comprehensive security and crime review meeting at the District Police Office (DPO) Kulgam, aimed at strengthening law and order, enhancing security preparedness and ensuring effective policing across the district.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), ASP Kulgam Aftab Awan, ASP NHW (Qazigund), Mumtaz Ali Bhatii, SDPOs, DySPs, and SHOs of district Kulgam, who briefed the DIG on their respective jurisdictions, challenges faced, and measures being taken to improve security and policing standards.

During the meeting, the DIGP conducted a detailed assessment of the prevailing security scenario, with special emphasis on anti-militancy operations, crime prevention strategies, and maintenance of public order. He reviewed ongoing and planned measures to counter militant activities and directed officers to maintain a high level of alertness, particularly in sensitive and vulnerable areas.

Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo stressed the importance of proactive policing, intelligence-based operations, and close coordination among different police units to neutralize threats in a timely manner. He instructed officers to intensify area domination, patrolling, naka checking, and surveillance to prevent any attempt to disturb peace.

The DIGP also laid strong emphasis on community policing, urging officers to strengthen police-public relations, build trust at the grassroots level, and encourage community participation in maintaining peace and security.

He directed officers to be responsive to public concerns and ensure swift and transparent grievance redressal, particularly in matters affecting common citizens.

Reviewing the crime profile of the district, the DIGP instructed officers to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards crime, ensure timely investigation of cases, and achieve higher conviction rates through professional and lawful procedures.

He also emphasized accountability, discipline, and effective supervision at all levels.
