Two drug Peddlers held with 8 Kgs of ‘Poppy Straw’ in Qazigund: Police

Urges people to com forward with any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighborhood, so that timely action will be taken against the culprit

Kulgam, Jan 22: : District Police Kulgam under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS is making every effort to hunt down the drug peddlers in the district and to put them behind the bars.

In this regard; A Police party of police Station Qazigund during patrolling noticed two suspicious persons at Sumo Stand Qazigund, whose identity have been ascertained as; Ashfaq Ahmad Rather S/O Abdul Majeed Rather R/O Chalyar, Chenani and *Mohd Sharif Bani S/O Mohd Jabroo R/O Nagulta, Chenani* carrying two nylon bags tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party. They were Chased and apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. After search, officers present were able to recover 8 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bags from their possession.

Regarding this incident, a Case vide FIR No. 21/2024 U/S 8/15, 29 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund* and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information or Dial 112 regarding anti-social activity in their neighborhood, so that timely action will be taken against the culprit.
