Kulgam, October 29: In a continued effort to bring governance closer to the people, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), on Tuesday visited the far-flung Waltengoo Kund area and presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp, listening to a wide range of public issues and developmental concerns raised by local residents.

The outreach programme witnessed massive public participation from residents of Nowbugh (Kund), Waltengo A & B, Pachgam, Kraloo, Hukradan, Razloo, Chitirgam, Waripora Kund, Cheki Wazoo, Nigeen Pora, Oriel, Batengo, Thathoo, and Kanchloo, who raised a wide range of developmental and welfare-related issues.

Public delegations and individuals projected demands including augmentation of health staff, macadamization of link roads, improved winter power supply, and other critical infrastructure needs.

Displaying a people-first approach, the DC listened patiently to every grievance and resolved numerous issues on-the-spot, directing officers to take immediate action wherever possible. He also shared details of several approved developmental projects that will soon be executed in the area, assuring the public of swift and result-oriented follow-up.

Officials from all key departments accompanied the DC, addressing sector-specific grievances and providing on-the-spot clarifications. Earlier, the BDO Kund briefed the DC about the status of ongoing developmental works in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Athar Aamir Khan said that the district administration is deeply committed to efficient service delivery and to ensuring that citizens’ concerns are addressed with urgency and empathy.

He emphasized that public outreach programmes like these are essential for strengthening trust, transparency, and participatory governance.

“All genuine public demands will be taken up with the concerned departments for timely redressal,” the DC assured.

The camp was attended by ADDC, ADC, ACR, and district and sectoral officers from various departments, all of whom actively engaged with the public to ensure effective grievance resolution.
