Qazigund, Apr 6: As part of the UT-wide plantation campaign launched by the Education Minister, a plantation drive was organised at Government Degree College (GDC) Qazigund, witnessing active participation from students and staff.
The initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices among the youth.
A large number of saplings, including fruit-bearing, ornamental and medicinal plants, were planted across various locations within the college campus.
Principal of the college, Prof Sudhir Singh, while addressing the participants, stressed the importance of environmental conservation and urged students to take responsibility for protecting nature. He highlighted that such initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing green cover and spreading awareness about sustainable living.
Faculty members and students from different departments participated enthusiastically in the drive. The event also saw involvement of civil society members, with participants working in groups to ensure smooth coordination during the plantation process.
The college administration informed that more than 100 saplings were planted during the drive, significantly contributing to improving the campus environment.
The programme concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing commitment towards maintaining ecological balance and promoting an eco-friendly campus.
